Critical Note

This ranking does NOT use the same methodology that’s used throughout this document for ubers. The standard and balance is drastically different than ubers due to them being extremely easy to acquire.

It’s also worth saying that the letter grades for this tier list is not proportional to the uber lists. A unit ranking C tier on this list does NOT mean they rank C tier on the uber list, these cats are being distributed in a vacuum.

Methodology

The general idea of this tier list is that Li'l Cats will be ranked by their usefulness across the late-post game rather than earlier parts. This is because Li'l cats differ from Normals and Crazed in that Li'ls have a high necessity for talents and + levels to farm, making them prime for later game usage rather than content within early-mid game.

Li'l cats are evaluated at their absolute max of level 50 +60 with max talents. Investment costs are not accounted for.

Combos are accounted for. However, uber rare combos will not be accounted since Battle Cats is designed specifically to be played uberless.

Li'l Cat

A cheap meatshield identical to Cat. Through talents gains critical to counter Metal Doge and wave immune to counter 4 crown wave stages. Has one of the best non-uber research combos in the game.

Li'l Tank

A 4 crown counterpart to Tank cat, offering high cost effective HP with slow speed. Dodges Zombies and is a part of a defense combo with Cameraman Cat.

Li'l Axe

A melee attacker who has strong and freeze against Angel and Aku, but has poor stats and is cost ineffective. Primarily used for his extremely good attack combo.

Li'l Gross

A mid-ranger similar to Gross, but with worse stats in favor for KB against Alien and a more notable Barrier Breaker, being one of the only good 4 crown options for it.

Li'l Cow

A rusher with fast speed and rapid attacks, though is the slowest of all Cow variants. Has wave and surge immune, but usage is completely outclassed by Rock cat.

Li'l Bird

A melee unit who has high stats against Zombies, but is extremely cost inefficient. Notable for mid-game SOL Zombie chapters. Relic niche is useless.

Li'l Fish

A melee tank with strong against Red and Aku, having good damage but is extremely slow and costly. Used only for obscure no gacha + one lineup challenges for his crit wave.

Li'l Lizard

A backliner with the strongest stats out of any Lizard variant. Has high HP, damage, and DPS. The best non-uber anti-surge unit and has one of the best attack combos.

Li'l Titan

A melee tank with high HP and damage but poor mobility. Stats fall off immediately in the late game. Can shield pierce but is outlcassed by many other more consistent options.

Frequently Asked Questions

"Why is Li'l Axe so high? Isn't he an awful unit?"

As a unit, Li'l Axe is pretty bad and is only ever used seriously in niche no gacha strategies. However, he's still extremely useful for the average player as he wields a small 2 slot attack combo. This is actually a part of the most optimal full attack combo setup you can create, specifically outclassing Cool Japan or other 4 slot medium attack combos which provide 15% more attack. By using Li'l Axe's combo with another 2 slot attack combo like Sister Act or TAH, you get 2 combos worth 10% attack for 20% attack up, completely outclassing Cool Japan. Li'l Axe's combo in particular has higher incentive to be used as it includes Cutter who is a very strong rusher that benefits from the attack setup.

"Why is Li'l Cat so high? He's just a meatshield."

Li'l Cat's placement is mostly carried by research combo which can be used alongside BioBone to max out your row with research. This setup is extremely powerful alongside Rock cat and most Rares/ Super Rares in general. Having the additional benefit of being a Metal Doge counter means he powercreeped March to Death and being one of the only accessible wave immune meatshields makes him a very easy 2nd rank.

"Why is Li'l Cow so low? Isn't he a part of Poultrio cheese which is one of the hardest stages?"

Talented Li'l Cow is actually not needed for Poultrio cheese. You can use offensive units like Assbear to break the shield and inflict freeze without needing any RNG. Poultrio cheese is still accounted for Li'l Cow's placement as he is a viable option.
