Replaceability refers to how special an uber is compared to non uber cats. If they are easily outclassed and don’t offer anything new, the uber will be ranked lower.

Replaceability goes hand to hand with niche. Replaceability determines the value of an uber’s niche and how much a player would actually want said uber.

The level of replaceability that a niche has heavily depends on what non uber options are available at the current moment.

For example: Cat Machine back in 2017 was an incredibly valuable unit. He was the only unit in the game to have wave blocker, and thus he was irreplaceable and became an extremely well respected uber, until Octopus showed up which devalued Cat Machine’s niche. Other anti wave non-uber cats were rising for players to use, further devaluing Cat Machine’s wave blocking niche.

Certain traits as a whole are also more powercreeped than others. Floatingand Black are arguably the most powercreeped traits in the game, with Floating getting powercreeped through a multitude of non-uber Floating debuffers and Black being primarily ruined by Bombercat and Pizza.

Ubers that are Floating debuffers or offensive anti-Blacks may find themselves struggling in being unique, as there are non-uber options that exist that either have similar levels of performance or straight up outclass whole ubers.

The main reason why replaceability is important for this methodology is to expose an uber’s uniqueness. If an uber is more unique, it will likely provide more of a benefit towards the player, as being unique means you won’t find a unit like it elsewhere in the non uber meta, and that directly correlates to said uber’s value.
