While consistency (as well as categories beyond this) is not a variable directly listed in the basics section, it is an important topic to cover when talking about methodology.
Consistency refers to an uber’s reliability in their niche. This most often tailors towards RNG based mechanics, and the weight of how being too RNG can affect a unit’s placement.
For my methodology, consistency is not strictly valued. Consistency is preferred, but if an uber can reach a high enough value to warrant a sacrifice in consistency, then it is acceptable.
The best examples I can give are Lasvoss and Ramiel. Both of these units are wildly inconsistent, with Lasvoss relying on a super strict set up and RNG with Ramiel also requiring similar levels of difficulty to utilize.
Even though both of these units are extremely inconsistent, they will both receive generous rankings. This is because the ratio between payoff and consistency is high enough in their favor. In other words, these 2 ubers are super janky but the potential value these ubers can get outweighs their inconsistent nature.
Basically, being a more consistent unit is generally preferred, but not necessary as long as the uber’s payoff is high enough.
